French Renaissance chest, walnut, decorated with "perspectives", 16th centu

This 16th century chest has a very beautiful Renaissance decoration on three sides:
- On the panels there are coffered vaults which rest on fluted columns. There is also a checkerboard made in perspective on the floor.
- The uprights are adorned with grooves and bird pines.
- The upper rail has a pretty frieze of bird pines and palmettes.

The ornamentation of this piece of furniture reveals the great mastery of French carpenters of the Renaissance period.
