Rare and large Russian armchair in mahogany, presenting on its front crosspiece a marquetry of blond wood, from the early 19th century.
The back and front legs are "saber" shaped, and end with golden hooves.
The armrests have the particularity to represent the skin of a pingolin and the head of a snake.
This original chair is probably inspired by a preparatory drawing of the famous Russian neo-classicist architect, Andrei Voronikhine (1759 - 1814), born and died in Saint Petersburg.
