Crucifixion (Germany, Grisaille, Silver Stained Glass & Coloured Glass, 15th century). Jesus on the Cross, flanked by the Holy Virgin and very tender apostle John. One old hairline crack in the panel with the head of the Virgin. Two rectangular parts (suggestion of landscape) underneath the arms of Christ from later period. Surrounding white glass and frame from later period.
Dimensions of the crucifixion scene: 39x24cm. With frame: 53x48cm.
Provenance: from the Collection of Joseph Altounian (1890-1954), antiques dealer to museums and collectors worldwide.
After the etching of Master E.S. (from 1450) now kept in The Louvre from the Collection of Edmond de Rothschild.
