A painted wood pagoda table in the Japanese taste with a rectangular plate decorated with leaves and landscapes in mother-of-pearl. The table legs are ended by lion claws. Chiseled gilt bronze ornamention. The pierced top and platforme decorated with chiseled gilt bronze sheets.

Gabriel Viardot (1830 - 1904) was a cabinetmaker working in Paris specialised in "japonisme" furniture adapted to European taste. He participated in the Universal Exhibiton in Paris in 1889 and was awarded by a gold medal. He obtained the same medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1900.
