A very elegant archangel Saint Michael (look at that angelic curly hairdo!) casually transpierces the evil dragon. Dressed up in his fancy armor, he is holding the neck of the Beast in his right hand while plunging his sword in the evil creature with his other hand. All this while smiling at us, poor mortals. Green, brown and gilt polychromy. Some wear to the paint but overall excellent condition. Sculpted in ‘applique’ and it was most probably originally a part of a retable. Tyrol ca 1480-1490. Dimensions : 41 x 36 x 10 cm.
