Carved and gilded oak wood console in a rectangular shape, decorated with a large central shell in the belt, with latticework motifs of acanthus leaves, sunflowers and fleurons on a latticework background. The console base made of involuntary sticks is joined by a flat spacer centered with an acanthus leaf and fleuron motif. A third foot in a posterior central position of support forms a pilaster decorated with fleurons and a shell in adequacy with the belt. The whole decoration is unified by a fine and elegant reparure which contributes to the achievement of the work of burnished and amatis of the gold leaves of the master gilder while sublimating the power of the master sculptor. The whole is topped with a marble leaf in Rance of Flanders. The marble of Rance of Flanders is a variety of marble of red color, striped with gray veins and white and bluish spots. Under the influence of François-Michel Le Tellier, Marquis de Louvois Superintendent of the King's Buildings 1641-1691 it obtained a great fame thanks to the intensive use that was made of it during the decoration of the Château of Versailles. It is used in profusion both in paving, veneers and pilasters, as in the Galerie des glaces, for the construction of columns, stairs and monumental fireplaces, hence the term "Royal Red". One finds in this decoration the beautiful classical ornaments of the decorative arts of the beginning of the Regency still in phase with the canons known as: Louis-quatorzien, arranged in a balance dear to this beginning of XVIIIth century. A period that is distinguished by the search for the grandiose to the point of emphasis, by the perfect symmetry of the motifs in the execution of the gilded woods. Dimensions: Height 81.5cm - width 121cm - depth 63.5cm
Regency period Parisian work circa 1715 - 1720.
