Paperolles are a decoration technique using narrow strips or tissues of paper, rolled up on itself and fixed on a support or in a frame, creating a three-dimensional subject.
It was very fashionable during the Renaissance, especially in religious congregations, who wanted to reproduce the effect of the gold and silver filigrees of the goldsmiths.
The genre was democratized in the eighteenth century
