Selection of furniture from the 16th to the 19th century
Hunting buffet in richly veined and carved walnut.
Intended for the service of game, it opens with two wide leaves deeply scalloped and sinuously molded with asymmetrical patterns. Two drawers inside are present to receive the knives for cutting.
The protruding moldings of the uprights are finely worked. Resting on a plinth, the massive proportions of this piece are balanced by elegant sculptures, including the central false frame, which is also asymmetrical.
The side panels with stylized chapel motifs.
At the top, the shell marble top known as the Saint Cyr stone comes from a quarry near Lyon. Its color and shell inclusions are characteristic of this stone used for the most beautiful models of Lyonnais hunting buffets from the 18th century. Ours with groove and cavet and a thickness of 4 cm is of exceptional quality and weight.
Very good condition, completely original as well as the pull rings, the lock, the key and the wrought iron cremone bolt.
