Limestone
This carved limestone lion must have took place among a large architectural ensemble.
The head is up, the full mane delicately carved as hooks and rolling curls and the mouth shows the beast’s fangs. Nevertheless this lion is not depicted cruel and agressive but with its open mouth and its large round eyes with the animal appears somewhat touching and tender.
