"Salvator Mundi"
Oil on Canvas
Canvas 41 x 33 frame 63 x 55
Second alf 17th century
We present to you this magnificent work of Maratta certain to be able to satisfy even the most selective collectors.
It is a splendid canvas by one of the most famous authors of Italian Baroque painting and many of his creations are exhibited in the biggest international museums (Metropolitan, National Gallery, Rijksmuseum and many others).
Christ still a child in the attitude of "Salvator Mundi" is represented with a very effective pictorial capacity and the face of the small protagonist really has a magnetic gaze.
The painting, of limited size, was probably commissioned for private use and the face of the Infant Jesus has beautiful features highlighted by Maratta's great skill in the portrait.
The subject matter is particularly intriguing, as well as very pleasing, and pleases both the sight and the soul.
It is certainly a small masterpiece by Carlo Maratta that manages to fascinate the viewer and involve them in the Protagonist's message.
