Four exceptional designs on cardboard for glass windows, by the Dutch artist J.J.N.Exter, dated 1940. They are part of 14 designs of the ‘Stations of the Cross’, exhibited at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam in 1941 - ‘Paaschtentoonstelling ‘41’: De Christusgedachte.
This expo was closed by the German occupier, because of the 'Entartete Kunst'.
Signed and dated, reframed in a "Caisse Américaine". The original frames and back sides are still available.
