Armchair in walnut wood, carved and waxed; high and wide straight backrest slightly inclined and curved at the top. The armrests are straight with padded cuffs. The hands of the armrests are flared with windings raised from the leaves where shells emerge. The whole is combined in the lower part of the backrest and rests on a console support called "gallant shrinkage" decorated with twining foliage fitting into the lateral crosspiece set back from the front base. Wide scalloped belt on all sides, curved in front and all in curves and counter curves for its sides. The set is elegantly embellished with leafy shells for the lateral parts and a powerful cartridge of acanthus accented with lambrequins with scrolls enriched with gadrooned foliage and tangled foliage on a background with braces. The whole resting on a nervous spacer base carved with leaves and flowers. This model of armchair testifies to the evolution of the seat under the Regence. From the great century, we keep the high, wide, slanted and entirely covered with fabric files as well as the ample seats, but these elements are combined with novelties due to the trends started at dusk of the reign of the Sun King. Less solemnity and rigor in favor of more comfort more softness; philosophy dear to this beginning of the century. Note the great care given to the connecting elements of impeccable quality. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this beautiful seat from the beginning of the 18th century. Specificity of the Regence, some seats follow the evolution of trends and criteria of the fair sex, the one we present to you is the perfect example. Wider and slightly lower from the seat with a gallant retracting console, these seats are consulsed so that these ladies can sit comfortably there without fear or worry of offending the good style required by their splendid and delicate toilets. - Observations: Excellent condition, restorations of use and maintenance such as; total repair of the upholstery, the fabric (Pierre Frey) slightly worn and a deep treatment and patina.
