Bronze group on a rotating base, produced at the end of the 19th century: "The Winning Love" on the theme of Psyche and Cupid. Sculpture by Adolphe Itasse, based on the painting painted in 1887 by William Bouguereau. Both signatures and numbering are present on the base. A patina of brown origin nuanced in beautiful condition according to its age, the red marble base made in the corners, (presence of tiny shards), against bronze base. The height shown includes the marble base.
William Bouguereau born in La Rochelle (1825/1905) important academic painter of the second half of the 19th century, his works widely rewarded, still inspire artists today in the representations of idealized characters (angelots, cupid ...)
Adolphe Itasse born in Lourmarin in 1830, a pupil of Belloc and Jacquot, inspired by Pradier, also appreciated as a portraitist, exhibited in the Salons from 1864 until his death in Paris in 1893.
