Offered by Seghers & Pang Fine Arts
From a Calvary group, a choir or church balcony. As Her attribute as well as the iconographic context has disappeared, we can only guess who She represents. The face has a sensual touch and the way She holds her arms and (now disappeared) hands might suggest that She was holding a Pyxis, in which case She would have represented Maria Magdalena. Multiple losses, splitting and accidents. She has undergone a professional conservation treatment: the wood has been treated professionally against further degradation and the remaining polychromy has been fixated. The sculpture will be delivered together with her C14 dating test from the Institut Royal du Patrimoine Artistique (IRPA).
Height (without stand): 88cm
Hard wood (maybe chestnut?).
