French Furniture and Art Pieces of the 18th century and Empire period
Pair of gilt copper candlesticks of the Empire period. The base and the binet are chiselled with palmettes. The casks are composed of three women in sheath.
The drawing of the model, dated 1799, is kept in the library of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. A similar model by Claude Galle was delivered in 1804 at the Palace of Fontainebleau.
Condition Report: Very good condition. Threaded rods of origin. Wear of use to the gilding.
