JAPAN: Large baluster-shaped porcelain vase decorated “in brocade style” in the Imari palette with peony flowers in iron red and gold on a blue ground framing two large medallions with lake landscape motifs and pagodas treated in polychrome.
Second half of the 17th century circa 1670 - 1680

Height : 62 cm
Two pairs of similar vases in British royal collections (Royal collection trust King Charles III), another similar pair purchased in 1776 for the substantial sum of 1250 livres at the Blondel de Gagny sale (1695 - 1776) by Clément Leger.
