A gilt bronze and patina bronze clock. White emailed dial with Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals for minutes signed "Mafson/ A Paris" is supported by an elephant trumpeting standing on a rocky terrace. A Chinese figure holdin an umbrella is sitting on the flowering branch. The mouvement plate also signed "Mafson à Paris", the date 1778 inscribed on the the mouvement. The watchmaker Masson is listed in the "Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français" de Tardy, p. 446.
