A magnificent representation of the Virgin by observing a devoted Saint John who, represented in profile and hands joined, crosses the eyes of the child who blesses him.
The play of shadows and lights, which draws the three characters and creates depth, gives an incredible three-dimensionality to the scene.
The painting, clearly of a higher level, is from the Neapolitan workshop Francesco de Mura who excelled in creating works about religious. Offered in different variants, it was one of the most famous. The success of the master was such that he considered his paintings of devotion as the most sought after and most sought after by the rich Neapolitan patronage of the eighteenth century.
The work is in perfect condition, professionally carved, complete with a golden frame.
