Large Hispano-moresque lustreware dish, Spain, 16th century

Beautiful and large Spanish Renaissance gadrooned dish, with vegetal motifs and a profile bird in the center, the reverse decorated with concentric lines.

In very good condition, with some wear and minor chips consistent with age. A small break on the rim, only visible on the reverse. Two ancient 'post- coctem" hanging holes. The plate is mounted in a hanging metal support.

Diameter: 42 cm

Manises, Paterna or Triana, mid-XVIth century.

To be compared with a similar dish conserved at the important collection of Hispano-moresque lustreware at the Mascort Foundation: CERDÁ I MELLADO, Josep A., "La loza dorada de la colección Mascort", ill. 271 page 299 (Fun. privada Mascort, 2011).
