Rare ex-voto in metal painted
Six paintings illustrate the chronicle of this ambush. In a banner at the bottom of each scene will be read the dialogue taken on the spot that engages between the protagonists: aggressors and victim.
Each of the scenes is perfectly "pictorial", each one has its decor and its costumes: the dirt road in the woods, the room where a chimney fire burns and where the care is lavished, the church where one comes give thanks for life saves.
The object is a document, dated 1786. Built as a small hexagonal building of painted and gilded metal, pledge and deposit of recognition after the drama, it was intended for the edification of the faithful. The ex-voto is at the same time a testimony and an invitation not to despair of Heaven. The architecture of this one, its ornaments, the comments which accompany it make it an object of a rare curiosity.
