French Furniture and Art Pieces of the 18th century and Empire period
Small flamed mahogany wardrobe surrounded by four pilasters capped with capitals in gilded bronze. It opens with a belt drawer and two flaps revealing six drawers "in the English style". Double barrel locks. Empire period.
If Thomire is better known as a bronzer, he bought in 1804 the workshop of Martin-Eloy Lignereux, cabinetmaker and furniture dealer. "Thomire, Duterme and Cie successors of Mr. Lignereux" will deliver to the Furniture Guard (Mobilier National) as well as various European Courts (Bavaria, Naples, etc.). We find on a secretary kept in the National Furniture delivered by Thomire & Duterme the same bronzes and the same system of hinges.
