Limestone with minimal rests of polychromy, beginning of XVIth century (1500-1525?), probably north of France. Extremely expressive face and eyes with delicately carved features and curly hair. Due to the fact that his characteristic attributes are missing, it is impossible to determine which saint or apostle is depicted. The decisive facial expression and the slight swirl of the head give exceptional dynamics to this forceful timeless sculpture. Presented on base in freestone. Part of the nose is missing.
A picture of this sculpture has been used as the iconic poster for the thematic art fair 4Renaissance' in Heeze, Netherlands', 2016.
Dimensions without base: 30x18x18 cm
