Pair of reticulated, doble walled, porcelain baluster vases and covers, Imari type design and ornamentation in underglaze blue, iron red and gold, representing a flying phoenix among flowers.
Vases of this type, formerly in the collection of August the Strong, are in the Dresden Museum. Two of them are reproduced by Friedrich Reichel in Early Japanese Porcelain. Arita porcelain in the Dresden Collection, Edition Leipzig, Leipzig, 1981 (ill. 38).
