16th to 18th century furniture, paintings and works of art
The waisted case of Violin form, with tortoiseshell and fine foliate brass inlay, surmounted by a figure of Ariadne. The back door is inlaid with brass and rosewood. On the front door a goddess riding Pegasus. Embellishments with bronze foliate ormolu and C-scrolled mounts to the sides, and bracket, on scrolled foliate feet depicting Indians. The console is decorated with mascarons wearing feathers.
The circular ormolu dial, with individual white enamel Roman cartouche chapters and Arabic 5 min chapters, original cut steel hands, signed ' HENARD A PARIS' on the centre enamel plaque, the movement with silk suspension, the back plate signed 'HENARD A PARIS. The bracket console is stamped "MARCHAND". The bronzes with crowned C hallmark.
