European Works of Art from the Middle Ages to the XVIIIth century
This bronze was probably a door handle, a type of ornament that was characteristic of Padova and the region of Veneto between the late XVIth century and the early XVIIth century.
Stylistically it recalls the statuettes and the putto figures produced at the Venetian worskhop of Niccoló Roccatagliata, "Master of the Putto" active between 1593 and 1636.
