Adriaen Thomasz Key was a Flemish painter born in Antwerp in 1544 and died in 1589, son of Adriaen Thomasz Key the elder, he joined the Saint Luke's guild in Antwerp in 1568. Although he painted religious subjects, he was above all a portraitist, and his paintings can be found in several museums in Belgium and Holland.
