Neo-Egyptian set, attributed to F.Barbedienne

Egyptian Revival gilt bronze trim
Comprising two three-light candelabras and a clock.
The rich decoration of palmettes, flowers and papyrus buds, columns and Egyptian heads, lions' hocks and paws, as well as the high quality of execution, allow us to attribute it to F.BARBEDIENNE ;
He was one of the most important foundrymen of the 19th century, and his entire production was frequently honored at the World's Fairs with numerous medals, as were his model-makers, chasers and assemblers.
The Egyptian style, very fashionable since Napoleon I and his famous military campaigns in Egypt, which began in 1799 and inaugurated the famous “Retour d'Egypte” style, was rediscovered in France in the 1830s and especially around 1860.
The turntable bears the stamp of : “JAPY frères”, who received the Gold Medal at the Universal Exhibitions of 1825, 1827, 1834, 1844, 1849.
