19th & 20th century decorative arts.
Designed by the Englishman Robert Crawford Johnson (1882-1937) in 1917, its modernist design is designed for perfect use on a ship, in the context of the rise of transatlantic liners.
The cubic shape ensures stability when pitching and facilitates storage. The spout of the tea and coffee pot is reduced to its simplest expression to avoid any overflow of liquid. The grip handles, while fitting into the cube, allow an effective grip.
After a first edition in ceramic, the silver metal edition brings to perfection a design with clean lines, in a similar approach to that of Walter Gropius at the Bauhaus school in the field of applied arts.
