The clock is embellished with an ormolu drapery and crowned with an ormolu eagle.
The whole is placed on a black marble pedestal, decorated with an ormolu ornament depicting playing putti.

The eagle with a burning torch in each paw radiates power and domination.
Thinking power and physical strength are symbolized by the sphinxes.

This clock was made in France at the end of the 18th century.
