China, 18th-19th century. Finely potted, the bulbous body rests on a spread foot and rises to a bent neck flanked by ruyi shaped handles under the flared mouthpiece. The exterior is decorated with a remarkably fine enamel on an impeccable imperial yellow background. Each side is decorated with a foliage panel surrounding a charming scene where a boy presents a flower to his mother, sitting on a stone bench pierced in a fenced garden.
The neck is also decorated with peony and plum flowers carried by winding vines; separated by strips of lotus rinceaux, the foot and mouth being surrounded by geometric stripes.
