Hard porcelain biscuit representing the actor PRÉVILLE of the Comédie Française in the role of FIGARO, model created by the sculptor LE RICHE in 1775.
The character wears a guitar on his back, tied over his shoulder with a wide ribbon. He kneels on the ground and writes while singing.
18th century circa 1775-1776
Dimensions: 28 cm X 20 cm
The play was a huge success, hence the creation of this figurine.
Beaumarchais himself bought two examples in 1776.
A similar model from the same period is in the Musée Adrien Dubouché in Limoges.
A later example in the Musée Carnavalet with the letter for 1904.
