Sévres biscuit with literary subject, by LE RICHE circa 1775

Hard porcelain biscuit representing the actor PRÉVILLE of the Comédie Française in the role of FIGARO, model created by the sculptor LE RICHE in 1775.
The character wears a guitar on his back, tied over his shoulder with a wide ribbon. He kneels on the ground and writes while singing.
18th century circa 1775-1776
Dimensions: 28 cm X 20 cm
The play was a huge success, hence the creation of this figurine.
Beaumarchais himself bought two examples in 1776.
A similar model from the same period is in the Musée Adrien Dubouché in Limoges.
A later example in the Musée Carnavalet with the letter for 1904.
