The Rise To Calvary, Flemish school of the 17th Century

Spectacular Flemish school that this oil on panel of Jesus carrying his Cross. The profusion of expressive characters with marked polychromy is a constant in the works of Franz Francken (1581-1642) The panel is in oak, composed of four non-parqueted boards and bears the mark of the Antwerp guild.
The pastel frame in gilded molded wood is a French work from the Louis XV period on which we observe some occasional lacks. This museum-quality work has a second version almost similar and of identical dimensions.
It is kept at the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen as evidenced by the last photograph proposed.
The details of our representation are more finely done and the rear plan enriched, notably on the right of the work.
Very good condition
Important dimensions of 73 cm by 103 cm
