First third of the 19th century.
Total height 50 cm, Figurine height 35.5 cm
These elegant bronze figures embody the spirit of French theatre in the early 19th century, paying tribute to Molière's legacy and the liveliness of his iconic characters. Tartuffe, the symbol of unmasked hypocrisy, and Dorine, the audacious servant, capture the essence of the comedy and social satire that marked the playwright's work. Mounted on Aleppo breccia pedestals, they also bear witness to the refined taste and enthusiasm for the decorative arts of the Romantic period, when the celebration of the great French literary masters was reflected in objects of art of the highest quality.
