Black lacquer box made to order for a European Masonic lodge. The lid features a lodge board meticulously decorated in gold, representing Masonic symbols, and enriched with mother-of-pearl inlays.
Late 18th century.
13.5 cm x 8 cm
This piece bears witness to the artistic exchanges between East and Europe, as well as the importance of ritual objects in the Masonic tradition.
