Offered by La Crédence
Oil on oak panel, in two parts, depicting various country scenes in a single painting.
In the center, a family in a wagon pulled by two horses, a rider beside them, a woman carrying a basket on her head, all in a shady alley.
To the left, cows grazing on a stream, the entrance to a small town in the background, with a church.
On the right, a fisherman in his boat, in front of his house, where we see a woman feeding the chickens, and a child. In the 2nd and 3rd shots, another fisherman's house and a larger town, probably fortified. A river adds depth to the scene.
Beautiful composition and fresh colors.
On the back, probably the mark of the Antwerp painters' guild, engraved in the oak.
Beautiful French daisy frame from the Louis XIV period
Formerly attributed to Abraham GOVAERTS ( 1589-1626), although Martin RYCKAERT may have been considered.
