A polychromed wooden hill of Golgotha.
Italian, late 16th / early 17th century.
Measures 21 x 16 x 12cm.
The polychromed mound is carved with a snake which was a reference to the original sin in the garden of Eden, the bones of Adam which were believe to have been buried at Golgotha and flowers representing the fleeting nature and fragility of life.
