Louis XVI work, stamped Garnier
Pair of half-moon shaped consoles in lemonwood veneer framed in rosewood and enhanced with boxwood fillets.
White marble top with openwork and gilded bronze gallery alternating large and small circles.
Its belt opens with a drawer with a beaded bronze frame on the front with a gilded bronze keyhole in the center and rosette pull handles on either side; the two lateral sides are decorated with the same beaded frame in similar gilded bronze and connected to the drawer, by harmoniously and finely chiseled flower sprays in gilded bronze.
It rests on 4 rosewood feet with simulated fluting in stained sycamore, topped with gilded bronze rings and finished with gilded bronze ball sabots.
The legs are joined by a sycamore marquetry crotch shelf stained with interlacing decorations on a lemon tree background, punctuated on the four ends with a floral motif in rosewood and in the center with four-sided foliage.
This top is framed with a boxwood net and a rosewood veneer and surrounded by an openwork and gilded bronze gallery.
Louis XVI period work stamped under the marble by Pierre Garnier (1726-1800), received master on December 31, 1742.
???????The very interesting particularity of this pair is the similar production between the two, incontestably confirming the production as a pair although they have somewhat different sizes.
This concedes that this pair was made for an order, custom-made, surely to be positioned in a very specific place in a home. It is therefore unique due to the accuracy of the production but the difference in dimensions.
