Still life of fruit outdoors
Rome 1660 – 1670
Oil painting on canvas 97 x 134 cm
Frame 123 x 158 cm
Outdoors, under a cascade of bunches of grapes and resting on three rock crags, a rich still life is represented.
Peaches, pears, apples, cherries, grapes, plums, figs and a melon are arranged with balance and taste to form a pleasant and "glazed" composition.
The elegant still life is the work of a Roman artist dating back to the 1760s/70s.
Some other works by our artist are known, always of great quality, with fruits displayed on rocky crags,
While waiting to find the exact personal details and in order to clearly indicate the author without fear of confusion of any kind, the pseudonym "Master of fruits on inclined planes" could be coined for him".
