THE ARTIST
Orientalist painter and pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme, he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1870 to 1880. He explored Fayum, Sinai and Petra during his expedition to Middle Egypt and Arabia Petrea. His most notable works are those that recall his trip to Egypt.
