Cast-iron garden statue signed on the base DURENNE à SOMMEVOIRE.beautiful patina,repair on the back.this statue represents a young faun dancing on a large shell and playing the flute.a garland of flowers adorns his head. Antoine Durenne was born on July 07, 1822 in Paris, where his father Antoine was a boilermaker.he graduated from the École des Arts et Métiers in Angers in 1841, and from the École des Beaux-arts in 1842.he was a founding member of the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs.in 1857, he bought the Sommevoire foundry in Haute-Marne.
