Scagliola top dating back to the 18th century, made during the Neoclassical period. The work stands out for its rectangular top decorated with a scene inspired by classical Greco-Roman iconography. At the center of the composition, three human figures interact in a convivial context: a standing male figure offers a cup, while two female figures, one seated and the other standing, seem to welcome the offering.
The entire scene is framed by an elaborate border, decorated with stylized floral motifs and figures of griffins, typical elements of the neoclassical ornamental taste. The predominant colors are red, black and blue, typical of the scagliola technique, which give a marble appearance but with the delicacy and pictorial details typical of this material.
The work stands out for the elegance of its lines and stylistic fidelity to classical antiquity, reflecting the influence of the return to Greek and Roman art and culture typical of Neoclassicism. A perfect example of Italian craftsmanship, this piece could have adorned the noble homes or aristocratic salons of the time.
