Wooden sculpture of exceptional elegance, finely carved in hard boxwood.
The golden patina and the shine of the precious wood essence are splendid and stand out for their particularly warm tone.
Christ is depicted crucified with his arms raised rather than in a horizontal position, following the dictates of Jansenist thought in use in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The anatomical details are carved with extreme precision and do not present the slightest lack.
The measurements are remarkable for this type of wood.
The creation of the sculpture in a single piece without the typical addition of the arms hinged on the body is very rare and very difficult. This solution requires, in addition to a high level of sculptural ability, knowledge of the characteristics of the material and great attention in its choice.
