Vase, Jutta Sika (decoration), Leopold Bauer (form), Johann Loetz Witwe for E. Bakalowits Söhne, thea und blau PG 85/5039 decoration, ca. 1901
This vase, designed by Jutta Sika and Leopold Bauer for the glass company E. Bakalowits Söhne, is characterised by its clear and strictly cubic form. Jutta Sika, a pupil of Josef Hoffmann and co-founder of the Association of Viennese Art in the House, designed the decoration for this vase. It is characterised by a skilful interplay of blue and yellow tones, which lends the strict cube a playful touch. Leopold Bauer designed the cubic shape - it is exemplary of his architectural oeuvre.
The unique interplay of playful decoration and clear design language gives this vase an unrivalled charm.
