Large porcelain vase with spectacular relief decoration of enameled lobsters, on an irregular blue background. Signed Tetsuzan on the bottom.
Little information on the Tetsugama kiln in the Arita region, apparently active before the Second World War but which today produces traditional tableware with Imari decoration.
This exceptional vase, with its 40 cm height, immediately captures the attention with the audacity of its relief decoration representing finely enameled lobsters.
These motifs, worked in orange enamel tones, stand out strongly on a background of a deep cobalt blue, obtained by high-fire firing. This striking contrast between the liveliness of the blue and the warm nuances of the enamels testifies to a remarkable skill in reinterpreting the colors traditionally used in the colors of Imaris.
This is a piece that perfectly illustrates the evolution of Japanese porcelain in the mid-20th century, while paying homage to tradition.
