Sinibaldo Tordi was an Italian painter born in Rome in 1876 and died in Florence in 1955. He studied in Rome with the Spanish painter Salvador Sánchez Barbudo, who belonged to the school of Mariano Fortuny, from whom he learned the technique of 18th-century reconstruction. Tordi showed great skill in portrait and sacred painting, producing a painting of Maria Addolorata for the church of San Felice a Ema, near Florence. During the 20th century, Tordi paid more attention to detail in the description of interiors, objects and costumes, thus giving his painting an even more decorative direction. He continued to devote himself to genre painting for many years, exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1913. Tordi died in Florence in 1955.
