Le Ferronnier, 16th century, large bronze sculpture with original brown patina, signed GAUDEZ on the terrace and inscribed Ferronier XVIe siècle on the base.
Antique cast iron from the 19th century.
Adrien Etienne GAUDEZ (1845 -1902), entered the Beaux Arts in 1862 and made his debut at the Salon two years later.
At the Salon, his bronzes were few in number, but it seems that many of his works were cast in bronze.
In 1883, in a sale probably organized by GAUDEZ himself, there were 2 copies of Le Ferronnier du XVIe in 50 cm.
