Very rare earthenware dish with polychrome Masonic decoration representing a “Tableau de Loge” enriched with various symbols.
18th century.
Size 36 cm
The only similar model known to the Musée du GRAND ORIENT de FRANCE in PARIS, attributed to SUD OUEST or LA FOREST (SAVOIE).
In some cases, expertise can be random: the clay, the glaze, the colors used and the firing give us indications. A specific decoration, a style, even a bouquet, a leaf or the way a flower is painted can provide clues for comparison and hence attribution.
