Very good condition with original gilded frame
A painting of very good quality representing a young man depicted with his bust in profile, but his gaze proudly turned towards the viewer.
The pose is defined in the typical manner of important characters, unusual for the image of a child, and is very attractive precisely because of this peculiarity.
The protagonist appears proud with a book in his right hand and the left resting on his wrist, as tradition dictates in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century portraiture.
His features are remarkably beautiful and the Author perfectly captures his childish mood that feels important, with a serious expression and a veiled smile, aware of his high social class.
It is a work that presents all the characteristics of early nineteenth-century painting.
The author is the Swiss painter Johannes Luthy (1803-1873).
