Louis XVI "bergère" stamped by Claude Chevigny

Bergère in molded and carved beech wood. It rests on 4 tapered, fluted and rudenté legs which connect to the belts by a die carved with rosettes.

The heavily curved armrest consoles are also fluted and rudenté and support the armrests which are attached to the backrest in a cabriolet.

Parisian work from the Louis XVI period stamped Claude Chevigny under the front belt.

Claude Chevigny, received master on April 27, 1768, is a seat carpenter established, until the Revolution, rue de Cléry. He produced the majority of his works in the Louis XVI style.
His seats are of very good quality, very neat, simple but delicately carved Chevigny carried out numerous orders among others for the Duke of Choiseul at the Château de Chanteloup and also for the Duke of Montmorency.
