Cast bronze cannon handles, representing 2 dragons

These two cannon handles were separated from the carriage by sawing. They are made of cast yellow bronze. They represent two powerful threatening dragons. Although they were discovered in Japan, they are certainly of Chinese origin. We think they are from the Ming period, 16th or 17th century, but they could be earlier. These are extremely rare objects, we do not know of any others. This is a page of Chinese history and it would be interesting to discover for which important battle these cannons were cast. We are only selling one, the other remaining in our collection. Weight approximately 3kg each. 17x8cm.
